Tighten the Grip of Murder with Ninja Gaiden 3
Launch trailers on launch day have officially gone the way of the dinosaur – which is to say, they’ve been hit by a meteor and are now being used as oil.
Developer Team Ninja, having recently overcame internal strife (like Dead or Alive creator and Ninja Gaiden reviver Tomonobu Itagaki leaving the studio), promise to deliver a gaming experience that forces players to not only take the life of another, but face the visceral repercussions as well. Enemies will howl in pain, run in fear, and – when your blade doesn’t let up on bloodletting – beg for mercy.
Despite dialing down the gore and totally eliminating the gleeful dismemberment of the first two titles, Team Ninja hopes the layering of realism behind enemies’ reactions will instill the sense that you’re cutting into more than just polygons. If their vision works, hopefully fans won’t miss bifurcating a man cleanly down the middle (I miss it just thinking about it). Ninja Gaiden 3 arrives on the PS3 and Xbox 360 March 20th, with a Wii U version brewing.
