Bioware Officially Outs the Third Dragon Age

Development on a follow up to Dragon Age II may be Bioware’s worst kept secret since the company has been exceptionally vocal the last several months in wanting to hear where the fans wished the fantasy RPG franchise to go, hoping to direct that feedback into a third game.  In an open letter to those very same supporters, Bioware executive producer Mark Darrah officially confirmed today the existence of Dragon Age III: Inquisition.

Details are slim – it sounds as though a bigger reveal is to come – but Darrah  was willing to share the fact that Inquisition’s engine is being built from the foundation up with DICE’s Frostbite 2.  Also, while new talent has been brought on board, the development team is mostly comprised of Bioware veterans whose time on the series dates back to Dragon Age: Origins.

Darrah went on to tease expanded customization options for both your armor and followers, but that’s as far as he was willing to go, “I know this is going to be hard to believe, but it is just as hard for me not to tell you stuff as it is for you to wait.”

Again, a bigger reveal is in the cards, but Bioware is insistent on holding off until they’re comfortable.  “There are a BUNCH of things that I really want to share with you but I want to do this right,” says Darrah. “And doing it right requires some more time."  Dragon Age III is expected for a late 2013 release.
